Privacy Policy
Coin is built to keep your financial data on your device. This policy describes what Coin stores, what can leave your device, and the choices you control.
Local-First Data
- Your expenses, budgets, categories, payment methods, app preferences, and subscription rules are stored on this device and in the shared app group used by Coin widgets and shortcuts.
- Optional iCloud sync (Coin Pro) can store your expenses, budgets, and settings in your private iCloud to share them across your devices. It stays off until you turn it on.
- Your Coin AI nickname and Login Photo are kept only on this device and are never uploaded.
- Coin does not run advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or tracking SDKs.
Network Access
- Live exchange rates are optional. When you sign in to Coin AI, Coin fetches currency rates through its managed service.
- Voice expense, receipt scan, and screenshot analysis are optional. When you sign in to Coin AI, Coin sends your transcribed speech, receipt text, or screenshot text, available categories, payment methods, default payment method, and an example expense to Coin's managed service so it can create an expense draft.
- For custom Ask Insights questions, Coin AI calls on-device tools: most return aggregates (category and budget totals), and a question about specific transactions returns those expenses. Only what the question needs leaves the device — never your full history.
- Coin contacts its managed service only for voice expense analysis, receipt scan analysis, screenshot analysis, custom Ask Insights questions, and live currency rates.
- Coin AI is optional. When you sign in with Apple and turn on Use Coin AI, Coin sends voice, receipt, screenshot, and Ask Insights requests, and fetches live currency rates, through Coin's managed service. Ask Insights sends only what each question needs — usually aggregates, or the matching expenses when you ask about specific transactions. Your Apple sign-in is used only to authenticate your Coin account.
- Support email is optional. If you choose Feedback, your email app prepares a message with app version, device, system, locale, time zone, and your Coin user ID so you can review it before sending.
On-Device Features
- Smart Insights and Ask Insights use Coin's local analytics facts first. On supported devices, Apple Intelligence can help write summaries and answers on device.
- Preset Ask Insights questions stay local or on device. Custom questions prioritize managed Coin AI; its tools return on-device-computed figures (aggregates, or the specific expenses for a transaction question), and Coin falls back locally when it is unavailable.
- Expense notes are excluded from Smart Insights and Ask Insights prompts.
Your Control
- You can export your Coin data as JSON through the Files picker.
- Reset All Data deletes saved expenses and budgets from Coin storage.
